Although growing up in a disadvantaged background can be a discouragement for many, eight young teenagers from Kariega refuse to let their background determine their future.
What started out as a group of boys hanging out and jamming together, has become a popular musical group in the community, and the young men are riding on the wave of the momentum. Ou-Chama Entertainment, the name of their group, is all about good music and entertaining the crowds.
“We are all young, handsome boys, so coming up with the name was not a very difficult task. We’re ouens (guys) that charm everyone, especially the girls,” one of the members, Eulan Masimla chuckled. Ou-Chama Entertainment officially began their music journey in the popular amapiano genre just five months ago, but have already garnered so much support, it’s safe to say they have their own fanbase.
Alzanedrio Willemse could not hold back the excitement, “Yoh, the support from our community is so overwhelming, it personally shocks me every time,” he exclaimed. Though many young artists might be sceptical about entering the amapiano genre as it seems oversaturated, Willemse said it just takes a little courage and motivation to put yourself out there. “Yes, there are many people making music in the genre, but that cannot be something that stops you or makes you afraid; there is plenty of space for you and your dreams in this world.”
For Masimla, the greatest reward in their journey is doing what he loves with all his close friends.
The musical item consists of Eulan ‘Ta-fresh’ Masimla, Rivario ‘White’ Samdaan, Rechalme ‘Kelo’ Palmer, Russell ‘Oom Russ’ Abdol, Lyle ‘Main Chiwawa’ Davids, Arian ‘Arie’ McMaster, and Alzanedrio Willemse.
Their songs are available on YouTube and Soundcloud under their accounts, Ou-Chama Entertainment, and for bookings or sponsorship, contact them on their official Facebook page, Ou-Chama Entertainment, or WhatsApp 068 801 0773.
“We just want to show our community that it is possible. Anything you want is within reach. You just need to do a bit of heavy lifting, and you will see results,” Willemse concluded.
