FANTASTIC public support of last year’s Tekkie Tax campaign contributed to R32 000 being raised in aid of the Uitenhage SPCA.
This made a tremendous difference to the lives of many animals.
“Tekkie Tax is the Uitenhage SPCA’s biggest annual fundraiser. Without community support we cannot fulfil our mandate to protect and assist the animals in our community,” said Deirdre Swift, chairperson of the Uitenhage SPCA management board.
“Funds raised made more money available to fight cruelty, improved life for our shelter animals and also enabled us to assist pet owners across all sectors to sterilize their pets.”
The SPCA has a few new tricks in the bag to raise money for this year’s Tekkie Tax campaign. To have more fun there will be t-shirts, hickies (replacing shoelaces), tattoos, stickers and buttons.
This year the Uitenhage SPCA once again is the only animal welfare organisation in the region which participates in the Tekkie Tax campaign.
“Last year, thanks to the support we received, the Uitenhage SPCA was placed 2nd in the Eastern Cape. We urge the public and businesses to help us to be the ‘top dogs’ this year!” said Swift.
All you need to do to support the Uitenhage SPCA with this campaign is to purchase your Tekkie Tax goodies directly from them. A sticker or tattoo is R10, a pair of hickies is R40 (plus a sticker), R15 for Tekkie Tax button and t-shirts are R100 (adult) and R90 (kiddies).
Owing to the unavoidable increase in production cost and to reduce the carrying of excess stock, the SPCA have been warned that limited stock is available this year.
“Every order counts! Please place yours soonest to avoid disappointment. We have to purchase stock up front which is not returnable.
“We wish to thank each and every person as well as organisation who joined in the fun of Tekkie Tax and for supporting us,” said Swift.
