THE Uitenhage Lions Club is again honoured that one of its members has became the governor of District 410D as from 1 July 2018.
Lion Freddie Erasmus and his wife Tanja travelled to the Lions International convention held in Las Vegas where the Lions International president inducted all the new governors from districts around the world.
Joining the Uitenhage Lions Club in 2012, Freddie has served in most of the club board portfolios. He has served as president and treasurer on a number of occasions.
Freddie has also served on District 410D cabinet as 1st vice district governor, 2nd vice district governor, zone chairperson and centennial co-coordinator.
Freddie’s dedication to serve the community and fellow Lion members can best be supported by the following quote by International President Dr Naresh Aggarwal: “We serve through the power of action, the power of service and the power of we. If all of us come together, the impossible becomes possible.”
Freddie’s personal drive and passion to serve has resulted in the chartering of Cape Recife Club branch, Uitenhage Lioness Club branch and Grahamstown Lions Club.
Since becoming a member of the Uitenhage Lions Club Freddie has introduced best accounting practices, registered the club as an aid station with Ironman, which is an international event and served those in need with special reference to those diagnosed with motor neuron disease.
Tanja, Freddie’s wife, is a member of the recently established Uitenhage Lioness Club serving as their treasurer. The contributions and service they provide are fully supportive of the Lion motto of “We Serve”.
Past district governor Bokkie Oberholzer said, “To have achieved so much and to have been elected to lead the district in such a short time as a Lion is extremely rare. It speaks volumes about Freddie’s dedication and service.” – REPORTER
