THERE are but a few things that draw a community together like sport does and proof thereof will be seen on Saturday!
It will be one of the most prolific sporting occasions enjoyed locally, the Derby Day, which is a clash between the likes of Uitenhage High School, Gamble Street High, McCarthy Street Comprehensive High School and John Walton High School.
This year, the honour befalls Uitenhage High to host this auspicious occasion at the Derrick Ferreira Stadium, where these top schools will participate in rugby, netball and soccer.
Current champions, Gamble Street will be looking to hold off their rather stiff competition for another year to retain the sought after trophy and accolades that go with it.
Uitenhage High, along with its patrons would like to invite one and all to come and enjoy the day. Scholars attending in school uniform will gain access for R5 while those attending in civvies, adults and cars will be levied R10 for entrance. A plethora of entertainment provided by DJ Tbozz will be on offer with food stalls and a raffle also being available.
- The Derby Day proceedings commence at 08:00 with the first game being played at 08:30. The final game will be played at approximately 16:00 which will be followed by an awards ceremony. – REPORTER
