A sunny weekend is forecast for the annual SPAR Kirkwood Wildsfees taking place this weekend!

“If the weather prophets are right then festival goers can look forward to a perfect weekend filled with a jam-packed programme,” says director Jenni Honsbein.

Game auction

The three days of “kuiering under the Karoo sky” open tomorrow, where the highlight during the day is the annual Kirkwood Wildsfees Game Auction, in partnership with Nedbank and SANParks.

Bidding starts at noon.

But, the grounds will be buzzing with activity from ten in the morning.

Other highlights for the Friday include a K9 dog show by Addo Elephant National parks Ranger Corps taking place in the Vodacom Pavilion.

The Wildsfees is also home to the only new car show in the Eastern Cape, as well as one of the biggest agricultural shows, which this year will also feature vintage tractors.

There is also a fun fair and the Walk on the Wildside marquee where guides from the Addo Elephant National Park will entertain the young with story-telling and games.

Gourmet delights

Gourmet delights and sensational sounds can be enjoyed in the kykNET lifestyle area, while the Coca-Cola fun zone will be abuzz with fun activities for the kids all weekend.

On stage live and included in the entrance fee will be some of South Africa’s best artists, such as Jo Black, Early B, Lira, Bok van Blerk and Nicholis Louw.

The action continues on Saturday, June 29 where festival goers can enjoy a lekker kuier with friends and family.

The Flavourfontein Beach Bar will get festinos wiggling their toes in the sand at the Karoo’s only beach bar.

Festival goers can also take in a variety of events in the Vodacom Pavilion, kykNET lifestyle area and Coca-Cola Fun Zone – all of which are included in the entrance fee.

Among the many food stalls serving delicious eats and refreshments is the Afrikaans Taal en-Kultuurvereeniging’s “Koek oppie Stoep”.

Entertainment

The main Adventure Province Stage kicks off at 14:45 on Saturday with Deon Groot, followed by Wicus van der Merwe, Refentse, Saarkie, Brendan Peyper, Juanita du Plessis, Ghapi, Jan Bloukaas and ending with Robbie Wessels.

Ending off the night’s entertainment will be the spectacular Monster Flight Night – where some of the world’s top motorcycle daredevils will enthral the crowd.

Sunday, June 30 is a day of kuiering with the Country Legends on the main stage at 10am followed by HunTer, Wynand en Cheree, Ricus Nel, Elizma Theron, and Ray Dylan.

Die Campbells will play the festival out on the Adventure Province main stage.

Festival goers can enjoy a traditional Skaapkop Langtafel Banquet, Friesian Horse shows, SAPS K9 Dog Show and Fun in the Coca-Cola Fun Zone. -REPORTER
