EASTCAPE Midlands TVET College (EMC) is proud one of its IT students, Brando Welgemoed, who came first at the National World Skills Competition which was held at the International Convention Centre in Durban.

The World Skills Competition is an initiative aimed at providing a competitive environment propelling students to be better skilled. The competition is open to students from TVET Colleges, Universities, Private Colleges and apprentices who are skilled in web design, IT Network Systems Administration, welding, automobile technology and electrical installations.

Competitions are organised annually at a provincial and national level in preparation for an international competition. This year the international competition is slated to take place in Kazan Russia sometime in August.

Brando Welgemoed, competed in the IT Network Systems Administration category against 13 national entrants. For this category, the entrants were expected to use Linex, Windows and Cisco to set up a network and connect printers and cameras on the network domain. He was presented with a gold medallion and certificate in recognition of his outstanding performance. – REPORTER
