Stroke survivors to host talk

“THERE are so many misconceptions surrounding a stroke. Some communities still believe a stroke is evidence of witchcraft.”.

“THERE are so many misconceptions surrounding a stroke. Some communities still believe a stroke is evidence of witchcraft.”

This is according to George Scola from Stroke Survivors Foundation, who is running the Blue Glove Initiative campaign to inform the public about stroke awareness.

The campaign’s education message focuses on BEFAST (balance, eyes, face, arm, speech, time) as the signs of stroke include loss of balance, blurred vision, a drooping face, arm weakness and slurred speech, while time is crucial for effective intervention.

The Stroke Survivors Foundation will be at the Netcare Cuyler Hospital in Uitenhage on Thursday, November 1st from 09:00 to 13:00 to host talks and to promote their Blue Glove Initiative.
