EVERY year the Youth Citizens Action Programme, a youth development programme that empowers and motivates new generations of active citizens, has a sustainability award named Change Agent, for a person who is consistently involved with the programme.

This year social worker Olwen Carson, who has since 2015 been involved with the Ycap programme at Solomon Mahlangu High School – took the honours of receiving the Change Agent award.

“I was really pleased to have won it for the school. This is not for me, this is for the school and the community that I’ve been working in since 2005,” said Carson.

She is the co-ordinator of the Solomon Mahlangu Ycap team who this year won on national level with their nutrition management programme.
