THE body of a 59 year old man who was living on his own on a smallholding near Rocklands, was found by his gardener in his house on Monday morning.

According to police information the gardener went to the shed on Monday at about 08:40 and noticed that his bicycle was missing. He then went to the house to enquire about it.

“The door and security gate were open. He called the owner but there was no response. He then returned to the yard. Later he became suspicious when the owner didn’t come out and he went inside the house and found the owner lying on the floor with his hands and feet tied,” said Colonel Priscilla Naidu.

“There was a wound on his head. The gardener ran to the neighbour’s house for help and the police was summoned.”

According to Colonel Naidu, the house was ransacked and the safe opened. It is unclear at this stage what was taken.
