Growing up KwaNobuhle in Kariega, Andisiwe Gongo has always had a deep love for music, and in 2014, he was part of a group of musicians who did hip hop and rap. But it was only in 2020, during lockdown, that he decided to start his solo career as “Riley Zero98”.

“I was inspired by all the artists who didn’t let the lockdown restrict them. They continued producing work and releasing content, so I did the same,” Gongo said.

“The more consistent I was, the more my following grew,” he continued.

Riley is known for producing ‘private school’ Amapiano which is more laid back, with its chords and pumping bass and drums.

Audiences in and around Nelson Mandela Bay mainly in pubs and local hotspots have been treated to Riley Zero98’s energetic fusion of Amapiano and Afro Dance Music.

“My biggest highlight is releasing my debut single in 2023 titled ‘Mdali’, which features Tik Tok sensation Szee and M-Phresh Soul. This gained me my first national playlist on Metro FM’s IBelieve show hosted by Dj Oskido. Another highlight was performing at the Uitenhage Street Carnival, Uitenhage Picnic and the Ebubeleni Music Festival under the previous collective known as Stunner Fam,” Gongo said.

The support he has received from family, friends and the community has been, “overwhelming, to say the least. My childhood friends are really great, they share all my work and really support me. I’m so grateful. I also want to thank the people who have been streaming my music and just showing me love on social media, I really appreciate you all,” the 30-year-old said.

In the future, Gongo plans on releasing more music, and reaching bigger audiences, far and wide. “My music is available on all streaming platforms, and a lot of radio stations also play it. Please call in and request my music,” he concluded.
