POLICE officers from the Uitenhage Cluster are determined to effectively address crime in their policing area that is in line with the Back to Basics approach of targeted and informed deployment of resources.

This is why the South African Police Service in the Uitenhage Cluster are looking for volunteers that want to become reservists.

According to Uitenhage police spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart, the recruitment of new reservists is based on the operational needs and priorities of SAPS and the need to acquire specialised skills and competencies to ensure that suitable community members are recruited.

“The attention of prospective reservists is drawn to the fact that their services are voluntary duties, without any remuneration, and that their position as a reservist does not ensure that they will be appointed if they should apply for a permanent position in SAPS,” said Captain Swart.
