The thorough investigation of crime and relentless efforts by members of the Uitenhage Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) and the criminal justice system proved to be effective when a perpetrator was sent to prison for 8 years.
Siyabulela Kinikini (39) was sentenced to 8 years imprisonment by the Uitenhage Regional Court, on a charge of rape. Kinikini was convicted and sentenced following the rape of a 26-year-old victim on 3 March 2018 at a residence in KwaNobuhle. A case of rape was opened and Kinikini was arrested on 9 March 2018 on the charge.
The acting Cluster Commander for Uitenhage, Brigadier Ronald Koll has commended the FCS unit for their thorough investigations.
