Public invited to beach clean-up

THE Algoa Bay branch of WESSA and the Zwartkops Conservancy are joining forces for a beach clean-up at Bluewater Bay swimming beach on Saturday from 09:30 to 10:30.


THE Algoa Bay branch of WESSA and the Zwartkops Conservancy are joining forces for a beach clean-up at Bluewater Bay swimming beach on Saturday from 09:30 to 10:30.

The public are invited to participate in this Walk with a Purpose and to assist in cleaning the beach.

Bags will be supplied, but participants are requested to put on hats and sunscreen and bring along gloves if possible.

To get there, driving from the city side along the N2, take the Bluewater Bay off-ramp and then turn right at the stop street where it meets with Weinronk Way. Drive straight to the end of Weinronk Way and then into the swimming beach parking area.

SANCCOB is also having a benefit auction and dinner evening, to fundraise for the rehabilitation of endangered African penguins and other threatened seabirds from Algoa Bay.

It will take place at Grass Roof Restaurant corner of New Seaview and Heron Roads, on Friday, 29 March at 18:00. Daron Mann from Algoa FM will be the Master of Ceremonies, Maria Grewar from the Re-Trade Project will talk about recycling and Stacey Webb, manager at SANCCOB will be showing the centre’s achievement in 2018 and where the funds raised will go.

Tickets are R300/person which includes dinner, entertainment, and welcome drinks. A cash bar will be available.
