THE Uitenhage Lions Club in collaboration with Heila Potgieter, a local health care specialist from Momentum OCSA, provided free diabetes testing to 200 community members at the Despatch SuperSpar last Saturday.
Potgieter said the number of young children tested under the supervision of their parents was a major achievement.
Project leader, Bokkie Oberholzer, a Past District Governor of the Lions said, it was important that all children had to be accompanied by a parent as it was medical procedures that were carried out.
“It was also proposed that we as Lions have to have a banner made promoting free diabetes testing.
“This will contribute to educating the community that diabetes testing and testing for HIV are totally different medical procedures,” said Oberholzer. – REPORTER
