TRAINING people to be competent and responsible drivers of light vehicles, is the core business of Speed Limit Driving School in Uitenhage. Driving is, after all, a privilege and not a right, so best is to learn from the start how to do it the right way!

What is unique to Speed Limit is that appointments, registration and payments are all being done online, in a user friendly and modern way. The driving school does not have an office.

The father and son combination of AJ and Jean Halgryn is the drive behind Speed Limit. AJ, a former superintendent at traffic law enforcement, has 38 years experience as a testing officer for drivers licences. His son, Juan is a graphic designer and is responsible for marketing and administrative tasks of the business.

Jean has designed all the green, black and white branding as well as the online page for bookings in joining the streamlined trend of doing business online.

“We chose the name Speed Limit for awareness that speed kills and it is our vision to through proper training, contribute in reducing road accidents,” said AJ.

“We campaign and promote disciplined vehicle driving and behaviour through enhanced operations and driving techniques according to legislation.”

According to AJ, speed, the understanding of road signs and taking other road users in consideration are three of the most important aspects that aspirant drivers should know and abide by.

Own vehicle or Speed Limit vehicle

A Speed Limit vehicle, a compact Mitsubishi Mirage, will be available for tuition and pass out for your driver’s test. Learners are also most welcome to provide their own roadworthy vehicles in which they might feel more relaxed for the training or pass out test.

The K53 driving method training is offered in English or Afrikaans and special packages and month-end specials will be on offer.

The cost for a driving lesson (Code 8) in one of Speed Limit’s vehicles is R180/hour, whilst in your own car it is R130/hour. There are various package deals available however.

Speed Limit operating hours are Mondays to Saturdays 08:00 to 18:00.
