Automotive technology group, FORVIA recently launched its Interiors Kariega Kitchen Garden. The garden is a symbol of growth, sustainability, and a testament to the company’s commitment to planet care.

FORVIA Interiors Plant Manager, Jean-Christophe Godet said,

It is not just a patch of soil with neatly arranged plants, it is a living classroom, a hub of education for our youth. We currently employ 65 people issued from the Yes4Youth South African governmental initiative. In a world where the importance of sustainable practices cannot be overstated, we believe that educating the next generation about the significance of agriculture, environmental stewardship, and responsible food production is paramount.

“In this age of technological advancements, it is crucial to reconnect with the roots of our sustenance. This kitchen garden will serve as a practical and engaging platform for young minds to learn about the entire life-cycle of the food we consume. From planting seeds and nurturing plants to harvesting the fruit of our labour, our youth will gain a hands-on understanding of the intricate relationship between nature and our plates.”

According to Godet, sustainability is not merely a buzzword, it is a responsibility we owe to our planet. By incorporating eco-friendly techniques, minimising waste, and promoting biodiversity, the recently opened kitchen garden is a small but significant step towards a healthier, more sustainable future.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the employees who contributed to the creation of this garden,” Godet warmly added. “Together, let us nurture not only the plants of this garden, but also the seeds of knowledge and awareness in the minds of our youth. Through education and action, we can sow the seeds of a brighter, greener and more sustainable tomorrow.”
