Software Developer and part-time entrepreneur, Ruwayda Kaisi was on her usual hour-long drive to work when an idea sparked her mind one day – an annual Paint n Sip event in Kariega!

“The hour on the road allowed me some time for self-reflection. It also made me realize that Kariega lacks leisure activities compared to other places. I was the first to host and introduce the concept to our town. It has come to my attention that many people are also interested, and we also offer private parties suitable for date nights and birthday celebrations,” Kaisi said.

Kaisi’s passion for her business stems from a desire to create spaces that offer a positive atmosphere and a sense of community. “Our town has faced many challenges, and I also enjoy hosting family functions, making event planning for Paint n Sip a natural fit,” the 23-year-old added.

At Paint n Sip, Kaisi handles all the event- planning, while her supportive family and friends assist with table setups and preparations.

For their upcoming event on Saturday, December 9, they will introduce a new twist by combining painting and wine tasting. Typically, participants can paint and choose a bottle of wine or a non-alcoholic beverage they prefer. “We always make a public announcement to gather non-alcoholic drink preferences,” she added. In the next event, everyone will receive five glasses with five different wines to taste as they paint.

“Finding the right venue can be a bit challenging, but we always strive to book well-known venues to ensure people can easily locate them,” Kaisi said. One ticket is priced at R250, which includes five wines to taste, a welcome drink, a snack as a palate cleanser, a canvas to take home, art supplies, good vibes, and good music.

“We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who has attended our events and engaged with us on our social media platforms. We appreciate every like, share, and interaction,” Kaisi concluded.
