From jikeleza to premier shuttle business

“I think and process things before I act or talk. I now know the importance of marketing. And the importance of understanding how clients in the corporate as well as hospitality side of business think.”

This is according to Sakumzi Bambalaza, director of Limelite Shuttle & Tours, some of the aspects that he had learnt from Raizcorp entrepreneur prosperator in Uitenhage.

Bambalaza regards his business as being a premier shuttle and tour operator. Limelite does airport transfers, hotel pick-ups and drop-offs, township tours, short and long distance journeys as well as transport to and from corporate events.

All his drivers are uniformed and the white and lime green branded vehicles are all fitted with fleet management systems indicating vehicle position and driver behaviour as well as live feed cameras and panic buttons. They operate 24 hours a day.

He started his initial jikeleza transport business during 2000, using old vehicles in and around locations. His business grew and by 2011 he registered Limelite Shuttle & Tours.

He joined the Raizcorp business growth programme two years ago. It provides business support for enthusiastic, growth-hungry entrepreneurs, offering them a platform that fosters learning and guidance which can be translated into practical business success.

“Raizcorp is amazing. Before joining them I was working so hard, but it felt I am not doing things right. With their financial guidance my business is now moving in the right direction.

“Raizcorp’s personal guidance was as if they have moulded me into a successful businessman. I now understand how finances, projections and marketing have to be done,” said Bambalaza.

He is passionate about his business and as a registered member of Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism, he loves rhinos and supports anti-poaching campaigns. He has even added colour-coded anti-poaching branding to his vehicles.

“I can’t wait to wake-up each day to do my job. I am my business. Whatever I say or do affects my business.

He thanked Raizcorp prosperator manager Guy Taylor and his team for turning his life and business into the right direction and for now being able to contribute to the economy and job creation.
