“IT is important never to let situations define who you are or where you are going in life.”
This is the motto Nicholas Toring lives by. A few years ago he bade Uitenhage goodbye and now calls Cape Town “home” where he is pursuing his international modelling career.
“It is hard work. But if it is your dream, the hard work is worth it all and inspiring,” said Nicholas who in his earlier years was crowned Mr Junior South Africa 2015 EC.
This was his first step towards one day striding down a platform doing the catwalk on international stages. Nowadays he is a signed-up model at one of South Africa’s leading modelling agencies, 3D Model Agency, which is an international model agency based in Cape Town.
“This granted me so many wonderful and unforgettable opportunities. I did a commercial for Telia, a mobile phone operator company in Norway. I’ve walked in the South Africa Menswear Fashion Week for one of South Africa’s well known designers, Nao Serati. And I also feature on Spree,the popular online fashion feed,” said Nicholas.
“Apart from all the modelling, I am a dental student studying at the University of the Western Cape, with the goal of one day becoming a dental surgeon.”
Many catwalk models have backgrounds in dance which makes them extremely graceful whilst striding down a platform. Nicholas is a dancer and thus a natural on the catwalk, but apart from that he also is a talented singer.
He was a member of the South African Youth Choir as tenor one and also a member of the Eastern Cape Youth Choir. In his primary school days he attended Innes Primary and then later matriculated at Brandwag High School.
His message to the young in Uitenhage is to, “remember always to dream big and work hard and never ever give up on your dreams!”
