South African Police Service (SAPS) in KwaNobuhle has confirmed a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the murder of two females, reported on 18 June.
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Nobuntu Gantana, four male suspects, aged between 16 and 23 years, were arrested on 19 June in KwaNobuhle.
“The arrests are directly linked to the ongoing investigation into the double murder,” said Gantana.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Eastern Cape, Major General Thandiswa Kupiso, commended the police.
“The swift apprehension of these suspects is a result of diligent police work and cooperation within the community. We assure the public that we are treating this case with the utmost seriousness,” stated Maj Gen Kupiso.
Gantana said the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murders continues.
“Further details regarding the suspects and the charges they face will be communicated in due course, as the legal process unfolds,” said Gantana.
SAPS urges anyone with additional information related to this case to come forward and assist the investigation.
