Manie “Kalla” Daniels was taken unexpectedly from his family, broad circle of friends as well as his schooling- and sporting community on July 23, 2023.

He was a teacher for 37 years at John Walton Secondary School, an avid golfer and a community builder par excellence. He dedicated his life to helping his fellow man and aligned himself with educating those around him, to want more from and for themselves.

The KallaManie Benefit Foundation has been set up in his name, to continue the good work he did during his lifetime. The Foundation is registered as a Non-Profit Company (NPC), and all proceeds from fund raising will be utilised to support a variety of good causes. The wife of the late Daniels, Fredaline, has nominated Clinton Anderson, Jamie-Lee Daniels, and Jeffrey du Preez as founding directors of the Foundation.

Each year, a different beneficiary will profit from the funds raised through the foundation.

One of the projects with which Daniels was involved at John Walton Secondary School during the time of his passing, is the study centre for matriculants. This will be the nominated beneficiary for the year 2024.

In collaboration with the school, the foundation will contribute towards equipping the study centre with sleeping quarters and a kitchen.

In view of socio-economic conditions of several of the learners at the school, they don’t have an enabling environment at home to facilitate effective studying. This would thus make the study centre a vital part in the success of many learners. The school has over the years implemented various ad hoc interventions, e.g. study camps, to mitigate the challenges faced by learners at the school, but the study centre has now become a final solution.

The first fundraising event planned is a golf day, the KallaManie Benefit Golf Day, on May 1, 2024 at Wedgewood Golf Club. This inaugural event will become an annual one.

Knowing Manie Daniels’ broad network of friends, colleagues, sportspersons, and businesspeople, we expect a full field of players from various walks of life. A wide range of opportunities exist for individual and businesses to support the golf day, including participation as golfers, sponsorship opportunities including hole sponsorship, prizes, cash donations, etc.

For any golf day sponsorship enquiries, contact Alroy Taai on 072 482 0423 or Clinton Anderson on 083 456 9001. For general enquiries contact Jamie-Lee Daniels on 061 094 3593 or Jeffrey du Preez on 082 903 2694 or email kallamaniedaniels1963@gmail.com.
