A Drug Free Fun Run, hosted by the Uitenhage Dependency Support Group (UDSG), will be held on Saturday at the John Walton Senior Secondary School sport grounds.
The UDSG group is bound to reach out to all persons who have been negatively affected by the misuse of chemical substances.
According to Stanley Richards, chairperson of Uitenhage Dependency Support Group, members of the group provide services as volunteers and will through thorough training and empowerment deliver preventative, motivational and supportive actions to dependents and their families.
The UDSG meet every Tuesday at 18:30 at Dale Street Hall in Gerald Smith and Thursdays at 18:30 at John Walton Senior Secondary School in Rosedale.
“We have group discussions, personal and telephonic contact and support, as well as self developing opportunities and prevention programmes that we conduct,” said Richards.
“As a support group we guide the dependent and his or her family to a life of victory and joy of living.”
UDSG is affiliated to the Christian Dependency Ministry of the Uniting Reform Church in Southern Africa.
