Dale Street church celebrates 123rd year

DALE Street Congregational Church is having its 123rd celebrations this coming weekend, 4-6 May.


DALE Street Congregational Church is having its 123rd celebrations this coming weekend, 4-6 May.

On Saturday, 4 May the annual church bazaar will be held at the Dale Street, Gerald Smith church hall. The official opening of the bazaar takes place at 10:00 and will be done by the guest Reverend, Rev Bertram Swarts of the Pearson Street Congregational in Port Elizabeth.

The programme for the 123rd celebrations will be packed with a variety of items. Meat-sales will already start on Friday (3rd May) at 17:00 at the church hall.

The little Miss Dale Street 2019 (4 -12 years old) will kick off the programme on Saturday morning. Practices for this modelling event are taking place at the church today from 16:00 until 17:30. For enquiries contact Yolande Klue on 079 1464 998.

On Saturday bazaar-goers will be entertained by renowned entertainers like Patrick and Shuling Lindoor, The Christadelphians, DJ Sippy, Les Simons and The Christos Dunamai singers.

There will also be a focus on healthy body image, with body-building displays by Uitenhage’s own Mopp Arends and Lionel Martin. Entertainment for little children will be in the form of jumping castles and train rides.

Golf T-shirts for the 123rd celebrations will be selling at R150 and less. To order a T-shirt, contact deacon Brooks on 079 2817 458.

The church services for Sunday 5th May are at 10:00, 15:00 (youth service) and 18:00. The different brigades will meet at 13:00 at Seagull Primary school to march to the church for the 15:00 service.

The celebrations will end off on Monday night at the church, where the Dale Street Senior choir will be hosting their choir festival under the very capable leadership of their renowned choir conductor, Venita Syfers van Wyk. Admission fee to this event is R10.
