The Prudential PE PLETT 4 Day Mountain Bike stage race this morning saw over 200 mountain bikers challenging this tough team event which started at Woodridge College.
The race was awarded international UCI status. SA’s best mountain bikers, including the likes of SA marathon champion Gert Heyns, teaming up with Arno du Toit; Julian Jessop the Africa U/23 champion partnering with Tim Hammond; and many other professional cyclists will be going head to head for close to R200 000 in prize money.
The Red Cherry Adventures crew built tented villages in 3 separate locations en route. The final finish down the Otter Trail at Natures Valley, some 4 days later, must be one of the most beautiful finish lines one could wish for.
The PE PLETT race has reached sold- out status and the 4 day journey is one of the most diverse mountain bike stage races in South Africa. -REPORTER
