Come on … challenge the train to U’hage

GET out your running shoes, apply your sunscreen, grab a friend or family member and put on your biggest smile as the forthcoming train race from Port Elizabeth to Uitenhage is going to be one to remember.


GET out your running shoes, apply your sunscreen, grab a friend or family member and put on your biggest smile as the forthcoming train race from Port Elizabeth to Uitenhage is going to be one to remember.

On August 19th, Zsports and Medi-help Medical Scheme will host the annual Medihelp Nelson Mandela Bay Train Race, starting at 09:00 at the Port Elizabeth Railway Station and ending at 13:00 at the Uitenhage Railway Station.

The race gainst a Metro Train will provide excellent exercise and an electric atmosphere. Teams taking on the the challenge to chase the train consist of 5 runners and 1 mountain bike cyclist.

If you choose not to chase the train, you are welcome to hop on the train, as there are 750 tickets available for purchase.

If you’d like to take part in this train race, book your tickets now or sign up to be a volunteer and experience all the action behind the scenes while working as an enroute marshal or assisting the passengers on board the train.

Those who will be part of the challenge will receive all sorts of goodies, ranging from t-shirts, lunch packs and goody bags.

  • CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa is the designated charity for this year.
