THE Cockscomb Classic mountain bike event takes place on Bucklands Guest Farm near Steytlerville, one of the districts that are severely affected by the current drought.

The event is in support of the Steytlerville Agricultural Society Disaster Fund as well as the Burre Burger Disaster Fund.

It will be held during the weekend of 5-7 April and entails camping, adventure, fun, food as well as a spitbraai.

Hannes Horn, organiser of the event, said the Cockscomb Classic has all the elements of a great race. It is hosted by Buckaroo Adventure Sport Events, which was established by Horn and includes 4×4 days, adventure bike rallies, trail runs and mountain bike events.

“The event is well organised with clearly marked routes. There is a lot of fun, with many people camping the whole weekend, good music, good food, and most of all – for a purpose!” said Horn.

“If you enter this race on the level of your choice, you are a winner. You will make a difference. And may experience positive change within yourself.”
