FILMMAKERS, aspirant as well as professional, are invited to the 4th Eastern Cape Film Festival which encompasses workshops, screenings and stakeholder presentations.
It will be held at the New English Literary Museum in Makhanda/Grahamstown from 1-6 December and the theme is “The Home of Legends”.
According to the Uitenhage born and bred Nceba Mqolomba, festival director of the Eastern Cape Film Festival, “the festival is a platform to explore how through film, sustainable employment opportunities can be created and heritage celebrated.
“Developing film makers will not only deal with the socio-economic challenges, but assist greatly in tourism promotion and positioning the Eastern Cape as an investment destination and film location.
“The Eastern Cape with its history, heritage and fauna and flora is an ideal location for ground breaking film productions through a booming industry,” said Mqolomba.
The artists in attendance include Isidingo stars Nasiphi Ntabeni (plays Cebisa), Soso Rungqu (plays Morongwa) and Yonda Thomas (plays detective Majola).
The workshops are free of charge and will be held by industry professionals in areas of script writing, acting, sound and producing. Attendance should be confirmed by e-mailing: events@ecfilmfestival.co.za
Daily screenings of films with a special focus on locally produced films including documentaries, short films, student films, animation and music videos will be held. The deadline for submissions is November 16th and filmmakers must send the information to submissions@ecfilmfestival.co.za
The festival will be held in conjunction with the Eastern Cape Performing Arts and Culture Council, the Industrial Development Cooperation and the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture.
