Burglars busted at engineering business

ALERT members from SAPS Uitenhage were busy patrolling Mitchell Street, Uitenhage at 02:55 last Thursday when they noticed suspicious movement at the premises of an engineering company.


ALERT members from SAPS Uitenhage were busy patrolling Mitchell Street, Uitenhage at 02:55 last Thursday when they noticed suspicious movement at the premises of an engineering company.

Police officials acted swiftly and established that a padlock on a burglar door was broken.

They notified the owner of the company and upon entering the premises the police officers spotted two suspects inside the building. The officers gave chase on foot and arrested both male suspects inside the building. The two males (ages 26 and 28) appeared in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s court on charges of housebreaking and theft at a business premises.

Owing to the swift response of the police officers no property was taken.

The Uitenhage Station Commander, Brigadier Laurence Soekoe commended the SAPS members on patrol for being so observant and for the swift arrest of the suspects. – REPORTER
