The Scavenger Hunt is hosted by the Ghost Riders Motorcycle Club Uitenhage and although a biking event, one need not belong to a club and motorists are also welcome to participate. The Hunt is a fundraiser in aid of the Uitenhage SPCA and Blackies old age home at Despatch.

“Making use of the cellphone app, which was specially developed for us by Chelsea-Leigh Barnard, is the first time ever for a biking event in the Eastern Cape.

Incredibly fun

“Participants will have to scan at specific points on the route and then follow instructions. It is guaranteed to be incredibly fun. The Hunt ends on a high note at Innibos,” said Ronelle Smith, First Lady from Ghost Riders Motorcycle Club.

The action starts at the Bluewater Bay Lifesaving Club on Saturday, March 9th with registration at 10:00 and the hunt departure is at 11:00 with completion at approximately 14:00.

“It is not a race nor are there time prizes. It has to do with giving and socializing. There will be lost of stops with tasks and challenges to do on the hunt to peak the excitement. Participants will also have to post photos taken at specific stops as part of the Hunt,” said Ronelle.

Ending at Innibos there will be live entertainment, braai packs (R40 – cheese wors, boerewors, sundowner and lamb chop), a gin bar, braai fires, lots of lucky draws and fun prizes.

“Anybody is welcome. It might be organised by a biking club, but you can do it in a car, trike or scooter. We as a biking community try to do good to promote, build and have available for the SPCA and Blackies community support,” said Ronelle.

As from tomorrow, trollies clearly marked SPCA and Blackies, will be at Despatch Superspar, where the public are most welcome to donate items needed at the respective institutions (Uitenhage SPCA and Blackies old age home).

The Scavenger Hunt is sponsored by Kelston Motor Group and supported by local businesses Despatch Superspar, Big Vic, Blou Ballon, Scissors Sisters and Suki sushi.

Participation is R80/person (includes wors-roll, metal badge & shooters) or R60/person (without a metal badge).
