Alleged hijacking suspects nabbed in Kariega

SAPS Kwanobuhle led to the arrest of four suspects, two men, 24 and two women, 19, on Saturday, November 25, in Kariega.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, it is alleged that on Saturday, 25 November, at approximately 04:30, the driver of the VW T-Cross was blocked by a white Ford Lazer in Mtuze Street, Ikamvelihle, Motherwell.

“The complainant was robbed of his vehicle, cell phone, wallet and cash by three suspects; one was armed with a firearm. The suspects drove off with his vehicle, and with assistance from the community, the hijacking was reported to the SAPS.

“At approximately 09:00, SAPS Kwanobuhle was busy with patrols in the are when an alert was circulated of a hijacked VW T-Cross that was hijacked in Ikamvelihle,” said Janse Van Rensburg.

Janse Van Rensburg added, “While in Mondile Road, Kwanobuhle, they spotted the VW T-Cross, and in an attempt to stop the vehicle, the suspects fled and lost control of the vehicle. The driver hit the verge of the road and stopped.”

“Four suspects were arrested on charges of hijacking and possession of hijacked motor vehicle.”

The suspects will appear in the Kwanobuhle Magistrate court on Monday, November 27.
