58th U’hage Lions Club president inducted

THE Uitenhage Lions Club held its 58th President Induction Dinner and outgoing president Hein de Vrey thanked club members for their services provided to those in need within the Uitenhage and Despatch communities.


THE Uitenhage Lions Club held its 58th President Induction Dinner and outgoing president Hein de Vrey thanked club members for their services provided to those in need within the Uitenhage and Despatch communities.

As part of the Lions Club International Challenge, club activities focused on the hunger through providing food items for soup kitchens at schools and churches. Also to assist the Leo’s and the recently established Uitenhage Lioness Club Branch, whose members made major contributions towards the youth, especially towards CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation and the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa).

Other service areas where the Lions are involved with include awareness campaigns regarding diabetes; provision of medical apparatus to those in need; and to assist Uitenhage Mental Health with donations of bedding and clothing.

“Like in all organisations, turnover of members is a natural and normal occurrence. Therefore we extend an invitation to members of the community who possess the passion to serve those in need to consider joining the Uitenhage Lions Club in their quest to support the Lion motto of ‘We Serve’,” said outgoing Lion President Hein de Vrey.

Presiding Induction Officer Past District Governor Bokkie Oberholzer formally Inducted Lion Wayne Kilian as the Uitenhage Lions Club 58th President wishing him and his good lady Marinelle to live the Lion values during their term of office for the period 2018 to 2019.
